Mild Heat Wave Sweeps Across Parts of Bangladesh

Khondaker Abdul Motin, Editor, DHAKA, May 15, 2024- According to a meteorological office forecast covering the next 24 hours from 9 am today, a mild heat wave is currently affecting four divisions and various districts across Bangladesh.

The forecast states, "A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, as well as the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Rangamati, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni, Cox's Bazar, Bhola, and Patuakhali. This condition may persist and spread."

Additionally, the forecast predicts rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in one or two places over the Sylhet division. Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies.

A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal, extending to the northwest Bay of Bengal.

Day and night temperatures may experience a slight rise across the country.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature recorded was 38.4 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur, while the minimum was 24.4 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The maximum rainfall in the last twenty-four hours until 6 am today was recorded at 16 millimeters (mm) in Bogura.

In the capital, the sun sets at 06:34 pm today and rises tomorrow at 05:16 am.
